Ingredients
½lb (225g) medium or fine oatmeal.3 fl.oz (85 ml) water.
1 dessertspoon melted butter (vegetable oil could be used).
¼ teaspoon baking soda.
A good pinch of salt.
Some hot water.
Method
Put oatmeal, salt and baking soda into a bowl.Make a well in the centre and pour in oil or melted butter.
Slowly mix in hot water until it becomes a stiff paste.
Knead and roll out as thinly as possible.
Cut into triangles.
Bake them on a griddle or a moderately hot oven (400f. 200c. Gas mark 6) until the ends curl up and the cakes are crisp (around 20 - 30 minutes).
Serve with butter or cheese.
