The Oatmeal of Alford

Laird's Skirlie

Ingredients

4 ozs. medium or rough oatmeal.
1 medium onion, peeled and chopped.
2 ozs. margarine or butter (melted).
¼ teaspoon grated nutmeg.
½ teaspoon dried herbs.
3 tablespoons stock or whisky.
Seasoning.

Method

Melt margarine or butter in a pan.
Add onion and cook until nicely browned.
Add dry ingredients and blend well with a wooden spoon.
Add stock or whisky, season to taste.
